Lost and found.

The general idea of an picture-archive is to organise and make pictures easier to find in it. One image could easily be archived in many different places , but the physical print or negative original, only in one place. When our archivists and picture editors work their way through the filing cabinets of pictures,  they find pictures that has been lost in the archive due to misfiling or lack of information about the original. 

About the picture. A coal miner in Tylerstown Wales is carrying a bag of coal home. He is still wearing his working clothes after a long days work. Just after the WW2 had ended, photographer KG Kristoffersson travelled through Great Britain. The collection of negative originals that became the result of his photography, was just until recently never catalogued or scanned. It is a great feeling to be the second person in the world handling the negatives since 1945.  The image is a great example of his work, as he captures daily life.

KG Kristoffersson was one of Sweden's most productive photographers with a unique archive left behind and in our care. His archive dating from 1939, is a great source for picture-searchers.
