Coca-Cola banned.

Coca-Cola became widely popular in Europe during the world war 2 and thereafter. But it wasn't until 1953 that Coca-Cola was allowed to be sold in Sweden. It's content of phosphoric acid and caffeine was banned in soft drink products in Sweden. Today the Coca-Cola factory in Sweden, produces 350 million litre soft drinks. The Swedish designer Alexander Samuelsson had part in the design of the original Coca-Cola bottle that was launched 1916. The curvy Hollywood movie star Mae West is said to have played a major role when designing the shape of the bottle, that has become known as one of the worlds most successful product designs ever.

About the picture: A young woman is serving Coca-Cola at a bar in London 1945. The eye catching red containers with the legendary logotype is of course visible. Photographer Kristoffersson spent three months travelling in Great Britain just after World war 2 had ended.

KG Kristoffersson was one of Sweden's most productive photographers with a unique archive left behind and in our care. His archive dating from 1939, is a great source for picture-searchers.
