The polar expolorer who disappeared.

The fate of the Norwegian polar explorer who disappeared during a rescue mission in the Arctic 1928 is a riddle still unsolved. It is believed that his plane chrashed in fog in the Barents Sea. The search for Amundsen and the team onboard the plane was called of in September 1928 and the bodies were never found.

A hero of his time. 

Amundsen took part in expeditions that at the time was top of the news in every newspaper in the world. In 1903 he led the first expedition to successfully traverse Canada's Northwest Passage between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.  1911 he reached the south pole and the Antarctic. 1926 he made his last expedition and became the first explorer to have reached both poles. The airship Norge reached and circled the north pole on May 11 1926. Amundsen threw a Norwegian flag onto the ice below the airship that passed the pole with shut down Engines.
