Jitterbug

The Jitterbug dance craze of the 1940s. Photo Kristoffersson

They've got the jitters.

The American soldiers and sailors around the world, fighting in the World War II spread the jitterbug dance across the world. At the time the dance was described by some as an energetic rude American dance.

Both acrobatic and brave.

By the looks of the young couple dancing the Jitterbug 1944, they are both acrobatic and brave. Perhaps she is more brave then him, being thrown and lifted.

About the pictures. The year is 1944 and the photographer Kristofferssons pictures are featured in a magazine published at the time. The fortune to be able to combine both the negative originals and the press clip with facts, is really telling the Jitterbug story. From being nice photographs, they have become a part of telling the story of the lifestyle of the past.
