Nat King Cole 100 years anniversary.

The iconic American jazz singer with over one hundred songs that became hits on the pop charts would have been 100 years old on March 17, 2019. He learned to play the organ as a young boy from his mother Perlina Coles and continued to take lessons on piano playing jazz, gospel and classical music. When he was 15, Cole decided to pursue a career in music. In 1940 Cole recorded the song Sweet Lorraine and it became his first hit, and from the 1940s and forward he cemented his stature as a popular star with a long series of hit songs.

Lets talk about that smoking is bad for you.

The death of Nat King Cole was caused by that he was a heavy cigarette smoker. He died from lung cancer February 15, 1965. Back in the 40s and 50s and earlier, no warnings were printed on cigarette packages, or information from the government health that smoking is bad for you. It was considered fashion to smoke or at least pretend to smoke, just holding a cigarette.

About the picture. The year is 1954 and Nat King Cole is in Sweden for a visit and concerts. He and his wife Maria tours the capital Stockholm and visits the Royal castle. Photographer Kristoffersson took the pictures. The pictures are just recently found in the archive this productive photographer left behind, and have never been published other then the original publication in a Swedish magazine 1954.
